COMPETITION

The CyberPatriots Club is Earl Haig's representative team in the CyberPatriot competition. The club uses resources made available by the CyberPatriot organization to learn cybersecurity and prepare for future rounds of said competition. While the team has already been determined, general members interested are more than welcome to attend meetings and further their knowledge and understanding of cybersecurity. 

Through organized debates on a wide range of topics, participants learn to construct well-reasoned arguments, develop critical thinking abilities, and foster teamwork as they collaborate with peers. This club is an excellent opportunity for students to boost their confidence in public speaking and cultivate a deeper understanding of various subjects through constructive discourse.

Earl Haig DECA is a chapter of DECA Inc., an international organization dedicated to preparing emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management. Members compete at regional, provincial, and international levels, showcasing their skills in various business-related events. Earl Haig DECA offers expert training to help members excel and achieve their DECA goals. 

Earl Haig FBLC is a division of FBLC, the largest international business career & technical student organization, with more than 230,000 competitors each year. Members gain invaluable experience by competing in the Canadian National Leadership Conference (CNLC) in March, where they compete in various business-related events on a national level. Competition registration ends November 30.

As an HOSA member, students are provided with opportunities to learn about specific healthcare careers of interest to them as well as the healthcare industry as a whole by preparing for and competing in one of our 30 unique competitive events.

Mock trial members learn about the Canadian legal system and have mock trials. The purpose is to teach members more about the legal system and apply them to cases/mock trials. Members will be able to practice a variety of skills including case analysis, critical thinking, and debating skills. Mock trials will be competing in the OJEN competition during the spring. Competitive members will be coached by lawyers who coached the team in previous years. 

HaigMUN offers students the opportunity to step into the role of delegates representing countries in international committees, based on the United Nations. At HaigMUN, we simulate real-world issues and historical events in a supportive, low-pressure environment where students can practice public speaking, research, and collaboration. For both those new to debating or those already confident, the club helps build valuable skills for prestigious conferences.

The Programming Club prepares students for the Canadian Computing Competition (CCC) with targeted training in vital topics and problem-solving techniques using resources such as DMOJ and the USACO Guide. Additionally, the programming club enriches members’ experiences by hosting guest speaking sessions with tech industry experts from top universities and distinguished alumni, bridging academic concepts with real-world applications.
