CULTURE & EQUITY

The purpose of an Asian Student Alliance is to not only recognize the diverse Asian cultures that Earl Haig has, but to celebrate them through events. People may have a very limited vision of what a ‘typical Asian person’ is, and our goal is to expand this view and introduce the school to a larger variety of cultures. The Asian Student Alliance will be a place for everyone to connect, grow, and have fun. 

Footprints Christian Fellowship is Earl Haig's Christian community club, providing a safe and inviting environment for all students to inspire and grow the Christian community in Earl Haig. We welcome students across all spiritual backgrounds, focusing on outreaching and growing the faith of believers in the school through fellowship and discussion. 

The Hong Kong Culture Club is a club that promotes and shares the radiant and bright culture of Hong Kong. Hong Kong Culture Club hope to foster an interest in Hong Kong culture for everyone, no matter their race and cultural background and to bring Hong Kong culture to life in Earl Haig, where Hong Kong’s languages, history, food and traditions can be explored.

The Indian Culture Club's mission is to inform, celebrate, and increase awareness of the many Indian languages, customs, holidays, and artistic legacies among the Indian Earl Haig community. By providing students with a forum to discuss and learn about all aspects of Indian heritage, we hope to promote respect and an appreciation of diversity.

The Jewish Student Association is a welcoming space for both Jewish and non-Jewish students to explore Jewish culture, identity, and heritage. Open to all students throughout the year, JSA fosters community through events, holiday celebrations, and cultural engagement. The club also promotes advocacy and inclusion within the school and beyond.

The Mahjong club is a community in which everybody is welcomed as we dive into the journey of culture and experiences. Through the roots of Mahjong, predicting the opponent’s next move and controlling the inner emotions is a key factor involved. With hands-on experiences, rising competition, and concentration, deep connections will be made along the way. 

The Muslim Students Association (MSA) provides a welcoming space for all students to connect, grow, and engage in extracurriculars while promoting inclusivity at Earl Haig. Successful activities and events include: henna booths, lokma sale, hijab day, and much more. Monthly meetings, events, and competitions allow students to participate, express their identity, and contribute to a positive environment, and enhances the overall student experience at Earl Haig.

The Newcomers Club is dedicated to welcoming students new to Canada to adjust to Earl Haig. Club activities center around ice breakers, seasonal activities, and presentations about upcoming school events. All newcomers are welcome to join, regardless of how long they have been in Canada.

The Persian Club is a community-driven organization dedicated to supporting Iranians and Persians by creating meaningful events that celebrate Persian culture and foster a strong sense of belonging. Through various gatherings, cultural showcases, and social activities, the club aims to build a welcoming environment where members can connect with their heritage and share the richness of Persian traditions in a familiar and supportive space.

Pride Council serves as a safe space for Queer students of Earl Haig. Ranging from workshops to social based events, Pride Council is a platform for advocacy, education, and community building. Students are welcome to join us bi-weekly on Tuesdays in Room 330 for our Queer lunches.
